Homecoming royalty at Blinn College chosen
La'Marcus Spikes and Jennifer Richers were crowned homecoming king
and queen at Blinn College during halftime of the Buccaneers' game
against the Trinity Valley Cardinals Saturday afternoon.
Spikes, a freshman from Huntsville, was sponsored by the Ebony and
Ivory Club, and Richers, a sophomore from Florence, was sponsored by the
Circle K Club.
They were crowned by last year's royalty George Abu-Shaibeh and
Amanda Sledge.
Spikes is a graduate of Hunstville High School and the son of Larry
and Rose Spikes. He is a psychology major and plants to attend Sam
Houston State University after Blinn.
Richers is a graduate of Florence High School and the daughter of
Kerry and Kathy Richers. She is the vice president of Circle K and a
student trainer for the football and women's basketball teams. She is a
kinesiology major who plans to attend Texas A&M University and
eventually earn her master's degree in kinesiology.
The two winners were elected by student voting and chosen from among
12 king and 16 queen candidates. The election was coordinated by the
Student Government Association on the Brenham campus
